If your genetics didn’t bless upon you the world’s fastest metabolism, you’re going to need to put your wheels in motion and start paying attention to the details in order to give your metabolism a boost. Good news is there is hope! Concerning your metabolism though there is no one quick fix it’s a number of small efforts and changes that will slowly increase your resting metabolic rate.
First being, water! Drink up trust me it makes a much larger difference than you think. Studies have shown that people who drink eight to twelve glasses of water burn more calories at rest than people who just drank four glasses. Water consumption increases the rate at which people burn calories so get that extra glass or two in and you’ll be doing your body and metabolism a long term benefit.
Incorporate more spicy foods. Certain foods have a naturally higher thermogenic effect which just means you’ll literally burn more calories as you chew. For example, Chili peppers contain capsaicin, a chemical compound that can kick metabolism into higher gear. Some other items that aid in increasing your metabolic rate are green tea, grapefruit, coffee, salmon, tuna, lentils and many more.
Now after a few daily tricks and changes go hit the hay! Yup I said it. Go to bed. It is a very underestimated factor for most but the average amount of sleep is about six hours for an average adult. Lack of proper sleep appears to increase your risk for weight gain and obesity by disrupting metabolic appetite regulation it also reduces your body’s production of the hormone leptin and increases the appetite-stimulating hormone ghrelin. So think twice you can add all the proper foods and training and diet but if you’re not letting your body rest properly you’re not going to see the results you want.
